*RARE MARHOLDT-PETERLONGO DBL RIFLE & DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 348 Winchester & 12 ga. SN 4406-67.52. Beautiful boxlock, sideplate rifle/shotgun combination with 25-1/2″ rifle bbls with raised matted rib, ivory bead, caterpillar front sight on pedestal with 3-leaf express sight, one standing, two folding, with claw mounts & orig rings containing a Zeiss 1.5-4.5X Diavari-C scope. Shotgun bbls are 27-5/8″ choked MOD/MOD with tapered concave matted rib, dbl ivory beads. Both bbls have Greener extension, ejectors & dbl chopper lumps. Receiver has dbl triggers with front trigger being set. Receiver & sideplates have full coverage, very high quality, very deep relief engraving consisting of full sideplate scenes of a bull & cow moose in a forest scene on left side & a grizzly bear standing over his kill of a doe deer, in a forest scene on the right side. All surrounded by full coverage fine foliate arabesque patterns. Top tang has “SAFE” in gold & trigger bow has gold initials “FJD”. Triggers, cocking arms, firing pin bushings, ejectors & small parts are all gold plated. Mounted with very beautiful marble cake French or Circassian walnut with two long checkered splinter forearms & pistol grip stock having a carved & checkered wrist with cheekpiece, 14-1/4″ over a smooth solid pad. Grip cap has a checkered & engraved metal cover. Accompanied by its orig brown leather red felt lined trunk case compartment for all pieces & two sets of snap caps. All dimensions with shotgun bbls: Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-1/4″. Bore restrictions: left – .011, right – .013. Wall thickness: left – .030, right – .036. Bore diameter: left – .711, right – .718. Weight: 6 lbs. 15.04 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine, may have been fired but if so, very little. Bbls retain about all of their fine orig rust blue while receiver & sideplates retain most of their orig coin finish. Wood is sound with minor nicks & scratches & a few bruises on cheekpiece and retains most of a fine professionally restored finish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bores.
