*ANSLEY H. FOX STERLINGWORTH DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. SN 257887. Fine, light, small frame Philadelphia Fox with 28” bbls choked FULL/MOD with tapered, concave, matted rib, dbl ivory beads, crossbolt rib extension, ejectors & dbl triggers. It has usual markings on bbls. Mounted with nicely figured slab sawed American walnut with checkered splinter forearm with an engraved screw escutcheon on bottom. It has flat checkered, semi-pistol grip stock, 14” over a serrated, hard rubber buttplate with a hard rubber grip cap. Receiver has light border engraving with “STERLINGWORTH” on each side and hand-stamped initials “GAP” on left side. Bore diameter: left – .620, right – .618. Bore restrictions: left – .033, right – .018. Wall thickness: left – .030, right – .031. Drop at heel: 3”, drop at comb: 1-5/8”. Weight: 6 lbs. 1.92 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 93-95% strong, orig blue with muzzle wear & wear on sides of chamber areas. Receiver retains 75-80% strong, bright, orig case colors, moderately faded on bottom & front edges of receiver and on sides of fences. Triggerguard retains most of its orig blue. Stock has a hairline back of top tang, otherwise wood is sound with forearm retaining about 60% orig varnish that is flaked, not worn, to its current state. Stock retains about all of a glossy refinish. Mechanics are crisp, very bright shiny bores. This is a little used, fine old shotgun. 4-30722 JR428 (2,000-3,500)
