THREE NAPKIN RINGS MADE FROM THE FUEL INTAKE PIPES TAKEN FROM THE WRECKAGE OF VON RICHTHOFEN’S FOKKER TRI-PLANE DR I 425/17. Each ring is engraved “Souvenir” in a straight line and “Somme Valley” contained in two separate scrolls. Fuel intake pipes on the rotary engines were of aluminum and these napkin rings are of that material. The engraving is not of professional quality, but pleasing in a naïve manner. A photograph of the napkin rings appears on page 233 of Who Killed The Red Baron? CONDITION: One napkin ring is slightly dented on one end; the other two are undamaged. All three appear to be unpolished, but in the natural state of aluminum tubing. SIZE: 1-5/16” high x 1-11/16” diameter. From the Collection of the late P. J. Carisella. 4-53505 CW6 (1,000-1,200)
