WESTLEY RICHARDS BOX LOCK EJECTOR WITH MAKER’S CASE. SN 14546. Cal. 12ga. 3″ Chambers. Double triggers. Automatic safety. 29-3/8″ Dovetailed Damascus bbls are engraved “Westley Richards. 170. New Bond St. London.” on wide concave top rib w/ dolls head extension. Bbl flats have Birmingham black powder proofs, left bbl marked “Choke”. Bottoms of bbls have SN “14546” (1890), and initials “W.R” and “CM”. Case hardened action has dual under lugs, Westley Richards sliding third fastener, and is engraved “Deeley’s Patent Ejector 1209” and “Anson & Deeley’s Patent 9579”. Action is very nicely scroll engraved w/ “Westley Richards” in riband on both sides and “Westley Richards Patent Ejector” on top in front of opening lever. Trigger guard has hunting dog on bow and SN on grip. Nicely figured and marbled Circassian walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/2″ over checkered wood butt w/ engraved steel heel and toe plates, and features a vacant silver oval, drop points, checkered side panels, and 18 LPI checkering w/ mullered borders. Deeley release splinter forend has horn tip w/ wood and checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.734, right -.739. Bore restrictions: left -.007, right -.007. Wall thickness: left -.026, right -.022. Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb: 1-5/8″. Weight: 6 lbs 5 oz. Oak and leather CASE has brass corners, central lock, 2 sliding bolts in place of straps. Interior lined in green cloth w/ Westley Richards label and 2 other labels w/ instructions for use and cleaning of Westley Richards hammerless gun. German silver plaque screwed to lid engraved “W. R. Garrison, 618 Fifth Avenue, New York.” Accessories include A & F snap cap and 2 Eley Brothers brass shot shells. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Collection. CONDITION: Fine, as refinished. Bbls retain most of light re-brown, w/ good definition to Damascus. Action retains virtually all of re-color hardening, engraving is sharp. Floor plate, trigger guard, top lever, and safety button have virtually all their re-blue. Stocks have nearly all their rubbed oil refinish, w/ number of nicks from handling. Checkering is re-cut, borders are not. Bores are fine, bright and shiny. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. CASE leather was cracked and dry, but has been refurbished. Handle replaced. Interior partitions are slightly loose. Labels are dark, oil soaked w/ rubs from contact w/ gun. Cloth is slightly dirty. 4-35670 MGM109 (3,000-5,000)
