*SAVAGE FOX STERLINGWORTH DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN WITH ORIGINAL BOX. Cal. 20 ga. SN 264619. Beautiful early Fox with 28” Sterlingworth Fluid Compressed Steel bbls choked FULL/MOD with tapered, concave, matted rib, sgl bead, crossbolt rib extension, extractor & dbl triggers. Mounted with checkered, straight grain, American walnut with square splinter forearm & pistol grip stock, 14” over a serrated hard rubber buttplate. Receiver has light border decorations and “FOX STERLINGWORTH” on each side. Accompanied by its orig cardboard shipping box with green, black & white label numbered to this shotgun with the pencil price of $35.00. Box contains orig dividers. Also accompanying is the orig green, black & white hang tag fully identifying this shotgun, along with “THE FOX STERLINGWORTH” booklet. Additionally accompanied by an orig 1935 Fox Savage catalogue that lists all of the various grades of Fox shotguns ranging in price from $39.50 to $500.00. Bore diameter: left – .619, right – .619. Bore restrictions: left – .028, right – .018. Wall thickness: left – .022, right – .020. Drop at heel: 2-5/8”, drop at comb: 1-1/2”. Weight: 5 lbs. 14.72 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbls retain 96-97% strong, orig blue with some slight thinning over chamber areas. Receiver retains virtually all of its brilliant, orig case colors. Wood is sound with small spot of touch-up on left side flat, otherwise retains virtually all of its orig factory varnish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bores. This is as fine a Fox shotgun of its type one is likely to encounter. The box shows its 70 years of age being a dark, smoked color, but the label is completely intact and legible.
