TWO PIECES OF PLYWOOD FROM THE WING OF VON RICHTHOFEN’S FOKKER TRI-PLANE DR I 425/17. On the larger piece of plywood is written “this is a piece off the aero plane of the great German airman Baron-Von Richoften. Brought down near Her____ Somme France 21/4/1918.” Further lettering is illegible. Provenance: R. Burton, Australian Expeditionary Force to Charles Donald to Carisella. The larger piece is pictured on page 141 of Who Killed The Red Baron? CONDITION: As found with some delaminating on the larger piece. SIZE: Piece 1: 2-7/8” x 3-1/8” x 2-3/8” x 3-1/8”.
