*UNUSUAL W & C. SCOTT & SON BOX LOCK EJECTOR PIGEON GUN WITH VENTILATED RIB. SN 96980. Cal. 12ga. Double trigger. Non-automatic safety. 30″ Dovetailed steel bbls have raised matted ventilated rib, and dual forend loops, and are engraved “W & C Scott & Son. Makers” on right bbl, and “55.Victoria Street. London. S.W.1.” on the left. Bbl flats have Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers and are stamped “96980” on rear splinter. Bbls have 3/4″ triangles of engraving. Case hardened action has dual under lugs, Scott screw grip third fastener, bushed strikers and a raised boss filed into top of breech to accommodate the high rib. Action is engraved w/ very nicely executed scroll. Fences are beautifully relief engraved w/ oak leaves. Trigger guard has scroll and SN “96980” and the Scott castle logo on the grip. “Safe” is inlaid in gold on the top tang. Lightly figured and streaked European walnut pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/2″ over a red English pad and features a horn pistol grip cap, vacant gold oval, drop points, and 22 LPI flat top checkering w/ mullered borders. 12″ Long trapezoid section semi beaver tail forend has a lever release which engages the front loop w/ a slot to accept the rear loop, w/ 3 panel checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.731, right -.732. Bore restrictions: left -.043, right -.017. Wall thickness: left -.037, right -.040. Drop at heel: 2″, drop at comb: 1-3/8″. Weight:8 lbs 3oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 97% orig blue w/ some nicks and scratches, thinning a bit in grip area. Bores are bright and shiny, but a bit frosted toward breeches. Action retains 90% case color, turning to silver at bottom edges. Floor plate retains most of its orig black. Trigger guard retains 10-20% blue, flaked to brown on bow, silver and slightly frosted on the grip. Top lever is mostly blue, but silvered around thumb piece. Action is tight, bbls are on face. Ejectors are out of time. Top lever is slightly left of center. Wood retains most of its oil finish w/ very few handling marks. Checkering is good.
