IMPRESSIVE AMERICAN ROCOCO CARVED WALNUT BREAKFRONT BOOKCASE. Third quarter 19th century. The upper section with three glass doors, the centermost arched. The conforming molded cornice surmounted by pierce-carved scrolling leaftip and shield form pediments. The upper case stepped back and fitted to the lower conforming cabinet having three paneled doors opening to shelves divided by ‘S’-scrolled carved pilasters above a molded plinth. SIZE: 9’9″ h. x 6’1″ w. x 26″ d. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Professionally refinished with dark brown surface.
