*EXCEPTIONAL W.& C.SCOTT & SON SIDELOCK EJECTOR MONTE CARLO B DOUBLE GUN WITH CASE. SN 102917. Cal. 12ga. Dbl triggers. Automatic safety. 30″ Flat matted rib, dove-tailed steel bbls are marked “W & C Scott & Son. Makers. “THE MONTE CARLO.B.”” on the right bbl, and “55,Victoria Street. London.England. Scott’s improved bolt.” on the left. Bbl flats show Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers and 1-1/4oz shot. They’re also stamped with SN “102917”. The scroll engraved action is marked with the SN, “W.C.Scott & Sons Makers,” the Scott castle logo, and Birmingham view proofs on the water table. The lock plates are engraved w/ scroll, pigeons in flight, and “W.& C. Scott & Son.” “Safe” is inlaid in platinum on the top tang. The nicely streaked Prince of Wales grip, English walnut stock measures 14-1/8″ over a serrated horn buttplate, and it features drop points and a silver oval engraved with the letters “L. R. L.” (Consignor states that the gun was presented to Lenox R. Lohr upon his retirement from NBC). Checkering is flat top w/ square mullered borders at about 20 LPI. The Anson release splinter forend has wood and checkering to match. Bore diameter: left -.733, right -.733. Bore restrictions: left -.040, right -.033. Wall thickness: left -.035, right -.031. Drop at heel:2-3/4″, drop at comb: 1-5/8″. Weight:7 lbs 3.5oz. The Abercrombie and Fitch marked toe under leather case has a brass plate on cover inscribed “To Lenox Riley Lohr from friends and colleagues in NBC and RCA, July 11, 1940”. Case is lined in maroon cloth and has a gilt and leather W & C Scott label, and contains A&F co. marked oil bottle, snap caps, and towel, as well as a 2-pc cocobolo cleaning rod, cleaning implements, keys, a bottle of Hoppe’s number 9, and the handle for the case. PROVENANCE: Copy of letter from consignor outlining history of the gun. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbls retain 99% orig blue. Small rub marks at the muzzles and breeches. Bores are bright and shiny w/ no noticeable defects. Action shows 95% orig case color, thinning to silver on action beads and fences. Lock plates retain 99% orig case color. Trigger guard and top lever retain 95% orig blue. Safety button is silvered on high points. Stocks retain 95% orig oil finish w/ a few handling marks. Forend tip is 60% silvered. Action is tight and on face. Ejectors are in time. Screw slots appear unturned. Case has quite a few scuffs in leather, handle is detached.
