ATTRIBUTED TO J.H. BELTER IMPORTANT LAMINATED ROSEWOOD SOFA. Mid-19th century. The triple-arched, pierce-carved crest rail of seven laminations centered by an intricate floral spray including calla lily, continuing to pendant fruit-and-floral garlands and interwoven, scrolling, leafy vinery. The incurved arms raised on molded shaped supports centering the tufted back and overupholstered seat with serpentine rail, molded and with carved leafage centering a cartouche, raised on carved cabriole legs with scrolling returns. SIZE: 51″ h. x 85″ l. x 40″ overall d. 16″ h. of seat. 62″ int. seat w. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private Gulf Coast collection. CONDITION: Professionally and beautifully restored, showing pronounced graining and rich color. Covered in a dark blue-green silk damask. Brass casters replaced. Repairs to back legs.
