ANTON LEBEDA 13 BORE SIDE BY SIDE WITH CROSS OVER STOCK. SN 6471. Cal. 13 Bore. (.714 Bore diameter). 30″ Twist bbls have scroll engraving with exceptionally well executed inlaid silver band with gold and silver acanthus accents at breeches. Top of wide flat raised rib is inlaid in silver “A. V. Lebeda a Prague” with floral scroll and inlaid gold accents with matching treatment at breech end of rib. Bottoms of bbls are mounted with three ramrod pipes, front two of which have raised beaded ends; middle pipe has sling loop soldered on. Rib extension on breech plugs has semi-relief engraving of pair of game birds in shaped cartouche. Breech plugs have very nicely filed fences, and more scroll engraving. SN is on bottoms. Breech iron has more scroll engraving and small scene with doe. Front action locks have nicely filed hammers, rebated lockplate tails are engraved “A. V. Lebeda” on right, and “Praza” on left. Lockplates are engraved with very finely executed of open flowing scroll with vignettes of game birds on left lock, and pair of bird dogs on right. Hammers are scroll engraved. Trigger plate has intricately filed “pineapple”, with scroll engraving. Thimble matches it in style and engraving. Steel trigger guard has recumbent stag on bow. Serpentine tang follows line of cross over stock, and has scroll engraving, and SN. Lightly marbled and figured European walnut cross over stock for shooting from right shoulder using left eye, measures 14-5/8″ over engraved steel buttplate, with long tang. There is a wide sling loop on toe line. Stock features cheekpiece for right hand shooter and 18 LPI flattop checkering with mullered borders at grip. There is a silver oval with initials “WD” in English script at top of grip. Bbl attaches to stock with side nail through engraved oval steel escutcheons. Hickory ramrod has brass tip. Wall thickness: left -.037, right -.035. Drop at heel: 3-1/4″, drop at comb: 2-1/4″. Weight: 6 lbs. 14 oz, LOP 14-5/8″. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains most of original brown, thinning in spots with some very light pinprick pitting. Locks, breeches, and hammers are pewter gray, as are trigger plate and trigger guard. Stock retains most of an old oil finish with numerous marks and dings from use. Checkering is slightly worn, and has not been re-cut. Locks are crisp. Bores are very good, shiny, with some frosting toward muzzles. A very high quality gun. 4-39471 MGM56 (5,000-7,000)
