*OUTSTANDING WINCHESTER MODEL 62A GALLERY MODEL PUMP ACTION RIFLE WITH ORIGINAL BOX. SN 388339. Cal. 22 Short only. Usual configuration with 23″ tapered rnd bbl, silver bead front sight and orig sheet metal rear sight. It has 3/4 magazine and ribbed flat bottom forearm. Magazine tube loading opening is configured to only accept 22 Short cartridges. Left side of receiver is marked with the “WINCHESTER / TRADE MARK” roll marking. Mounted with very nicely figured, uncheckered American walnut with straight stock and “WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO” hard rubber buttplate. Accompanied by its orig 2-pc cardboard box with orig cardboard dividers in bottom and an orig instruction pamphlet along with a “10 COMMANDMENTS OF SAFETY” pamphlet. Box also contains its orig wax paper. Lid of box, two sides & one end of the top are printed in red ink with various stylized Winchester markings. One end of lid has the orig yellow label with red & black printing identifying this rifle by SN and in “22 Short only” caliber. The box has a paper tape band imprinted in blue ink from the “Churchill Hardware Co.” of Roseburg, OR and advertising themselves as “THE WINCHESTER STORE”. This is an extremely rare rifle with an even more rare orig box and the first one ever encountered by this cataloger believed to be authentic. CONDITION: Rifle appears to be new & unfired retaining virtually all of its strong, bright orig factory finish to both metal & wood with only two or three tiny handling & storage mars in the wood finish and a couple of small scratches on forearm. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore. Box has a couple of minor fuzzed corners and some of the red ink is lightly faded, otherwise box is sound with one corner having a tiny amount of water stain. 4-40186 JR90 (4,500-6,500)
