*E. J. CHURCHILL IMPERIAL SIDE LOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH CASE. SN 7736. Cal. 12ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. Double Triggers. Automatic Safely. 25″ Dove-tailed steel bbls w/ flat file cut rib are marked “Churchill (Gun Makers) Ltd.” on the top of the right bbl and “Orange St. Gunworks. Leicester Square. London.” on the left. Bbl flats are marked w/ Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-3/4″ chambers at 3-1/4 tons PSI. SN “7736” (1963) is engraved on the bottom of each bbl. The case hardened side lock action has 90% coverage of shaded open work scroll w/ 2 very large scrolls on the lock plates, as well as “Churchill.” The bottom of action has imperial crown denoting grade. Trigger guard and top lever have matching scroll engraving. SN “7736” is engraved at the grip. “Safe” is inlaid in gold on the top tang. Nicely streaked English walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15″ over checkered wood butt, and has drop points, 22 LPI checkering w/ double line border, and a silver oval engraved w/ “AMJ”. The splinter forend has an Anson release w/ wood and checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.729, right -.729. Bore restrictions: left -.026, right -.011. Wall thickness: left -.027, right -.030. Drop at heel: 2-3/8″, drop at comb: 1-5/8″. Weight:6 lbs 10.2oz. Brady type leather case w/ stitched leather corners, initials “A.M.J.” are embossed in gold on the lid. Maroon cloth interior w/ leather and gilt Churchill label. Accessories include 2-pc wooden cleaning rod, mop and jag, 2 snap caps marked “Churchill, London”, and 2 keys. PROVENANCE: Correspondence by original owner negotiating purchase and shipping. Copies of Churchill price list and catalog for 1962. CONDITION: Extremely fine, near new. Bbls retain 98%+ of their orig black, w/ few very minor scratches. Bores are bright and shiny w/ no visible flaws. Action retains 95% orig case color, silvering on action beads. Lock plates retain 98%+ of their case color. Trigger guard retains 95% blue thinning a bit at grip. Top lever is silvered slightly at the thumb piece. Stocks retain 98% orig finish with a few very minor handling marks. Checkering is clean and sharp, missing a couple of diamonds on left side, and one missing on right. Case color on the forend tip is silvering slightly. Action is tight and on face. Ejectors are in time. Case has a few minor scuffs on the leather, interior partitions are tight. Cloth is fine. 4-33801 MGM24 (8,000-12,000)
