COLT HARTFORD ENGLISH 3RD MODEL DRAGOON. Cal. 44. SN 374. BLue and case colored with 7-1/2″ oct to rnd bbl, German silver front sight blade and New York City address. It has English proofs on the bbl and cylinder and “Colt’s Patent” on the left side of the frame. It has brass grip frame with varnished 1-piece walnut grips. It is accompanied by a letter from Herb Glass authenticating this revolver as being completely original. CONDITION: Very fine plus, all matching except the wedge which is from another revolver and bears the numbers “113” and “245”. The bbl retains 30-40% thin original blue, strong on the left side of the bbl lug and in sheltered areas. The rammer pivot retains traces of light case colors with the balance a silver/gray. The frame has traces of faded case colors, primarily on the right side with the balance a silver/gray patina. The grip frame is an even medium mustard patina. The grips are sound, showing moderate wear on the edges with usual light handling and use marks and retain about 85% varnish on the right side and 60% on the left side. The cylinder is a gray patina and retains 70-80% Indian fight scene. Mechanics are crisp, strong bright bore with scattered fine pitting. 4-53570 JR884 (12,500-17,500)
