SCARCE GRADE 2 LIFTER HAMMER DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 10 ga. SN 17684. Built on a #2 frame with 30″ Damascus bbls, smooth tapered concave rib with sgl bead & extractors. Receiver has beautifully finished deep scalloped fences with light border engraving & extra flourishes over the firing pins. Lockplates have matching border engraving with light arabesque patterns. Wood is nicely figured American walnut with checkered splinter forearm & rnd knob stock, 14-1/4″ over a smooth steel buttplate. Accompanied by a Parker letter indicating shipment on April 15, 1880. Letter states that it was shipped with 32″ bbls vs. the current 30″ bbls, which appear orig and not to have been cut. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbls retain 75-80% light brown orig Damascus pattern with minor nicks & light surface rust under the forearm. Receiver retains 20-25% faded case colors with the balance turned silver. Lockplates retain 40-50% faded case colors, stronger in the sheltered areas. There are a couple of hairlines back of the right lockplate otherwise, wood is sound showing moderate wear with light nicks, dings & scratches and a few light bruises. Checkering is sharp. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bores with some light frosting. 5-60359 JR622 (1,500-2,500)
