F. BEESLEY BEST SIDE LOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN. SN 1526. Cal. 12ga. Double triggers. Automatic safety. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 30″ Chopper lump steel bbls are engraved “F. Beesley, 2 St.James’s Street. London. Pall Mall Corner.” “2” in gold on concave narrow game rib and “Whitworth’s Fluid Pressed Steel” on the tops of both bbls. Bbl flats show London nitro proofs for 1-1/8oz shot. Bottoms of bbls are stamped SN “1526”(1898). Whitworth tube numbers “20517” and “20518” are stamped on the loop. Case hardened action has dual under lugs and is engraved w/ fine English rose and scroll and “F Beesley. London. Patent” in ribands on each lock plate. Bottom of action is engraved “Beesley’s Patent” and fences have typical Beesley large acanthus relief engraving. Single beaded trigger guard has rose and scroll and SN engraved. No. “2” is inlaid in gold on top lever, and “Safe” is inlaid in gold in front of safety button. Finely figured and marbled French walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-3/4″ over checkered wood butt with nicely shaped drop points and finely executed checkering at 24 LPI w/ mullered borders. Nicely reshaped beavertail forend has no. “2” engraved on the iron, Anson release and checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.728, right -.729. Bore restrictions: left -.000, right -.003. Wall thickness: left -.023, right -.025. Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 6 lbs 12.2oz. CONDITION: Fine as refurbished. Bbls retain virtually all London quality re-black w/ engraving picked up. Bores are bright and shiny w/ very minor frosting in front of right chamber. Action retains 60-70% case color, silvered on action beads and ends of fences, and fading to gray on bottom. Lock plates retain 90% color, thinning toward rear. Trigger guard has 50% re-black, silver on bead and grip. Top lever silvered at thumb piece. Screw slots show use. Buttstock and forend are nicely shaped showing most all of their high quality restored oil finish, w/ marks from use. Action is tight. Bbls are on face.
