*SHORTENED WINCHESTER MODEL 70 PRE-64 BOLT ACTION RIFLE. SN 249234. Cal. 250-3000SAV., 18-1/2″ bbl, serrated front ramp with gold bead sight, slot blank in rear seat. Left side of bbl is marked “WINCHESTER / PROOF STEEL – MODEL 70 – WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK – 250-3000 SAV.” Right side of bbl marked “MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN, CONN. – PATENTED”. WP proof marks can be found left side on both bbl and receiver. Receiver is marked “WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK” center of left side. Rear left side mounted with Lyman 57 WJS peep sight, type 3 safety, solid handled bolt with matching serial number. Number 5 mag box, number 2 mag spring and short follower. Mounted with straight grain walnut, 1-pc stock, forend with checkered side panels, checkered pistol grip, checkered steel buttplate, factory sling swivels, forend screw is missing. PROVENANCE: Bruce M. Cady Estate Collection. CONDITION: Good+. Bbl retains 75-80% orig blue with muzzle wear and numerous nicks & scratches. Receiver retains orig blue thinning and blending with silver patina in forward half. Bolt handle is mostly a silver patina. Floor plate retains 80% orig blue, silvered on edges, thinning and blending with silver patina with a couple minor, tiny dents. Trigger guard has flaked and worn to a silver-gray patina. Stock is sound with good checkering, some normal marks from hunting and retains orig finish thinning and blending with hand-worn patina. Mechanics are crisp with gray bore with some slightly dark grooves. 4-36921 BDT160 (1,000-2,000)
