GERMAN MARK BANKNOTE REMOVED FROM VON RICHTHOFEN’S BODY. One Mark banknote, 640-055755, found among the effects removed from the body of von Richthofen while it lay on the ground at the crash site. It was given to Gunner W. J. “Snowy” Evans (53rd Battery, 5th Division). The bill is watermarked from the August 1914 printing. A photograph of the German Mark banknote appears on page 236 of Who Killed The Red Baron? CONDITION: Shows some use from handling, but there are no stains or tears to detract from its condition.
