*WINCHESTER PREWAR MODEL 70 SUPER GRADE BOLT ACTION RIFLE. SN 32349. Cal. 30-06, 24″ bbl with integral stippled front ramp, full gold bead sight & hood, slot blank in rear dovetail. Left side of bbl in front of boss is marked “WINCHESTER / PROOF STEEL-MODEL 70-WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK-.30 GOV’T 06”. Right side is marked “MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN. CONN. -PATENTED.” WP proof marks are found on left side of bbl and adjacent receiver. Left side of receiver is marked “WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK” and mounted with Lyman 48 peep sight. The prewar receiver with cloverleaf tang is clip-slotted and not drilled. Bolt has solid handle and prewar safety and matching number to receiver. Floor plate is stamped “SUPER GRADE”. Mounted with dark, straight grain walnut, 90 degree ebony forend tip, multi-point wrap-around checkered forend with diamond center, wrap-over checkered pistol grip, Winchester hard rubber grip cap. left side cheek piece, checkered steel buttplate, inlet sling swivel bases with original swivels and adjustable leather sling. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl and receiver retain 97-98% orig blue with a few minor handling marks and a small spot of faint pin-prick oxidation in chamber area. Bolt handle retains most of its orig blue. Trigger guard and floorplate retain most of its orig blue with some minor handling marks and faint traces of oxidation. Stock is sound with good checkering, orig finish with a few minor nicks, dings & handling marks. Mechanics are crisp with a nice shiny bore. 4-40683 BDT94 (2,500-3,500)
