*SELDOM SEEN WINCHESTER MODEL 70 PRE-64 SUPER GRADE RIFLE. SN 407352. Cal. 243 WIN. 24″ rnd bbl, serrated front ramp, gold bead sight and hood, flip up rear sight. Left side of bbl is marked “MADE IN NEW HAVEN,CONN. U.S. OF AMERICA / WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL-WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK-MODEL-70-243 WIN”. Bottom of bbl is marked “SUPER & 243”. WP proof marks are found on left side of bbl and receiver. Left side receiver is marked “WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK”. Its topped with B & L adjustable scope mounts equipped with Balvar 2.5 X 8 scope with tapered cross-hairs. Hollow handled bolt, type 3 safety and jeweled bolt body, extractor & follower. Mounted with nicely figured fiddle-backed walnut, wrapover checkered pistol grip, blue steel grip cap, Monte Carlo, checkered steel buttplate, left side full cheekpiece, inlet swivel base 2-1/2″ from toe, Super Grade marked floorplate, full checkered forend with diamond center, inlet sling swivel base, 90 degree ebony forend tip and sling swivels equipped with adjustable leather sling. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains 98-99% orig blue with a small rub mark near muzzle and a couple light handling marks. Receiver retains nearly all of its orig finish as well as bolt handle. Floorplate and trigger guard retain nearly all orig blue with a couple minor, tiny scratches. Stock is sound with sharp checkering, a few minor nicks & scratches, retaining nearly all of its orig finish. Buttplate appears completely orig but is of a higher polish than normally found. Mechanics are crisp with a bright shiny bore. Scope is bright with freckling from lens separation can be seen under high magnification. Standard 243s are fairly scarce and a mint-condition Super Grade is very hard to find. 4-39915 BDT37 (3,000-5,000)
