*RARE WINCHESTER PRE-WAR SUPER GRADE MODEL 70. SN 57766. Cal. 375H&H. 25″ rnd tapered, heavy bbl, stippled integral front ramp, gold bead sight and hood. No provision for rear sight. Left side bbl is marked “WINCHESTER / PROOF STEEL-MODEL 70-WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK-375 MAGNUM”. Right side is marked “MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN. CONN.-PATENTED”. WP proof marks can be found on left side of receiver and adjacent bbl. Left side of receiver is marked “WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK”. Receiver is equipped with Lyman 48 receiver sight. Rear bridge is not drilled, cloverleaf tang, pre-war safety, solid bolt handle and properly matching serial numbered bolt. Mounted with straight grained walnut, wrap-over checkered pistol grip with Winchester hard rubber grip cap, Winchester solid red recoil pad, inlet sling swivel base with detachable swivel 2-1/2″ from toe, left side cheekpiece, wrap-around checkered forend with diamond center inlet sling swivel base with detachable swivel and 90 degree ebony forend tip. Foreplate is stamped “SUPER GRADE”. Left side of stock is notched for Lyman receiver sight. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Gun remains in near new condition with just a few minor handling marks. Recoil pad is very slightly mushed at heel. Mechanics are crisp with a nice shiny bore as gun has seen very little use. Pre-war Super Grades in this condition are very hard to find in any caliber and especially tough in the desirable Magnum. 4-40165 BDT36 (8,500-12,500)
