*FRANCOTTE MODEL 8455 BOXLOCK DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. SN 87840. Fine lightweight double with 26” bbls choked MOD/IMP-CYL with narrow, tapered, concave, matted rib, missing front bead, with Greener crossbolt rib extension, dbl underlumps with ejectors and dbl triggers. Top of bbls are engraved “VON LENGERKE & DETMOLD” on right bbl and “U.S. AGENTS NEW-YORK” on left bbl. Mounted with streaky, straight grain, French walnut with checkered splinter forearm and straight hand stock, 14-1/4” over an old Bob Smith Sporting Goods Co. waffle pad. Bottom of stock has a silver initial oval engraved “J.G.W.” Receiver has side clips & sideplates and is nicely engraved with about 75% coverage, light arabesque patterns. All appended metal is engraved to match and top tang has “S” in gold. Bore diameter: left – .620, right – .620. Bore restrictions: left – .015, right – .004. Wall thickness: left – .030, right – .031. Drop at heel: 2-1/4”, drop at comb: 1-3/8”. Weight: 5 lbs. 8.64 oz. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbls retain 70-75% strong orig blue with light muzzle wear and heavily thinned over forearm area. Receiver retains 25-30% faded case colors and sideplates about all of their orig case colors, moderately faded. Stock has a hairline back of top tang, otherwise wood is sound showing moderate to heavy wear with light nicks & scratches. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bores. 4-31033 JR483 (3,000-5,000)
