GREEK TERRACOTTA HEAD OF DIONYSUS. Tarentum, Circa Mid-4th Century B.C. Probably from a figure of the Youthful God reclining at a banquet, his hair surmounted by a cylindrical stephane with rosettes remaining behind the ears, the ends of the fillet falling onto the neck. SIZE: 4″ h. PROVENANCE: Private collection of Dr. & Mrs. Winfield Gibbs, Sunbury, PA. Exhibited at the Israel Museum: The Joseph Turnbach Collection, 1891-82.
