RARE EARLY LAKESHORE AND MICHIGAN SOUTHERN RAILWAY LITHOGRAPH. Extraordinary early circa 1875 color lithograph comparing mail delivery 100 years previous to that of the modern “fast mail” rail service. Wonderful graphics of a steam locomotive and a colonial garbed mail carrier passing through rural neighborhoods. Nicely framed in birdseye and tiger maple frame. Cosack and Co. Buffalo, New York lithographers. Formally in the W.H. Coverdale collection. SIZE: Image is 21”w x 28”h. CONDITION: Very good to near excellent; other than a margin stain to the left of the locomotive, and a mild horizon tannin discoloration, this piece is in remarkable condition. 1-1542 (2,250-3,250)
