EXTREMELY EARLY 1ST MODEL COLT 51 NAVY REVOLVER. Cal. 36. SN 106. First year production with the wedge over the screw. It has 7-1/2” oct bbl with dovetailed front sight, small, brass, square back trigger guard and backstrap with 1-pc walnut grips. The operating handle catch stud and several screws are replacements. The bottom of the butt is scratched with the initials “VPM”. CONDITION: Good. All matching including the wedge. No original finish remains, being a cleaned gray patina with light surface pitting and a couple spots of deeper pitting. Front sight blade is missing. Trigger guard and backstrap retain about 10% silver plating in sheltered areas with the balance a medium mustard patina. Grips are sound with a chipped toe and edges with several chips, gouges and show heavy wear. Back of the cylinder has been severely rotated under the hammer and is worn to the shape of the hammer nose. Strong dark bore and battered screws. 4-49952 JR952 (4,000-6,000)
