*BEAUTIFUL PIOTTI MODEL KING EXTRA DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN 2-BBL SET. Cal. 28 ga. SN 7989. Fabulous little shotgun with 26” & 27” bbls numbered “1” and “2” respectively with the 26” bbls choked IMP-CYL/CYL and the 27” bbls choked FULL/MOD. They both have flat, tapered, hand matted ribs with sgl bead, ejectors, dbl chopper lumps & a sgl non-selective trigger. Mounted with extremely beautiful, burl, circassian walnut with checkered, beavertail forearm that has a gold Piotti logo in the center and a straight stock, 14-1/4” over a checkered butt. Receiver has full 7-pin sidelocks with full coverage, extremely fine, foliate arabesque engraving with all the appended metal engraved to match. Lockplates and bottom of receiver have a total of nine foliate & floral gold inlays with bouquets of flowers at each end of the hinge pin, on each side of the fences, on trigger bow and bottom tang. The thumb lever has a gold inlaid crown and the top tang has “S” in gold with the serial number on the bottom tang in gold. Stock has a diamond shaped grip. Bbls have the maker’s name & information on the top with the importer “W.L. MOORE, WESTLAKE, CA., & MOD. KING I” engraved on the bottom of each right bbl. BBLS #1: Bore diameter: left – .565, right – .565. Bore restrictions: left – .013, right – .005. Unable to gauge wall thickness. BBLS #2: Bore diameter: left – .564, right – .565. Bore restrictions: left – .028, right – .016. Unable to gauge wall thickness. Drop at heel: 1-7/8”, drop at comb: 1-3/8”. Weight with bbl #1: 5 lbs. 3.2 oz. Accompanied by a fine Nizzoli green felt lined, dark brown leather trunk case compartmented in the bottom for the shotgun & both sets of bbls, a pair of nickeled snap caps, a rnd nickeled oil bottle, a 3-pc brass & wood cleaning rod and a covered compartment containing cleaning equipment. Also accompanied by a copy of an appraisal from William Larkin Moore & Co. dated 8 Sept. 1999 for a similar shotgun in 12 ga. with replacement cost $36,500.00. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching, near new. Overall retains about all of its fine, orig factory finish with some very slight, sharp edge wear on the muzzles of both sets of bbls and some thinning near the end of the 26” bbls. Receiver and all appended metal retain virtually all of their bright coin finish. Wood is sound with the stock having a very few, very minor, mars in the finish. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bores. Case & accessories are fine. 4-30347 JR312 (17,500-22,500)
