*FLAIGS SUPER DELUXE ACE BOLT ACTION SPORTING RIFLE WITH KAHLES SCOPE, SLING, AND AMMO. SN 2443.52. (1952) Cal. 30-06. 24″ One third octagon, 2/3 round integral rib barrel has one standing one folding matted leaf rear sight dovetailed through rib. Silver front bead is longitudinally dovetailed into integral front ramp. Top of rib is matted and engraved “Flaig’s Millvale PA. – Ferlach Made in Austria” in unmatted portion. Rear portion of bbl is engraved “Bohler Stahl” and is stamped with “L Borovnik” (maker) and “30-06” on right side. Left side has Ferlach proofs for 1952. Bottom of bbl has sling loop. Coin finished action has Ferlach proofs on left side, and features tang safety (“S” inlaid in gold), double set triggers, and claw scope mounts. Bolt handle is turned down in “butter knife” style. Magazine and hinged floorplate feature lever release and shotgun style trigger guard. Metal parts are very finely engraved in large open shaded Germanic scroll. Head of a bugling elk or stag is engraved in high relief in central medallion of floorplate. Trigger guard has depiction of Flaig’s lodge surrounded by scroll. Dense, but rather plain, European walnut stock features Bavarian style cheekpiece, composition buttplate and grip cap, and ebony forend tip. In place of checkering there is well executed fish scale carving in wrap-around shield design at forend and with modified point pattern at grip with shell highlights. There is a bit more carving at transition of cheekpiece. Accompanying rifle is a Kahles 4 X 60 scope with duplex reticle in sweated-on claw mounts and leather lens covers. It is engraved on left side “Made in Austria”. Brown braided leather sling is in loops. Also included are approximately 160 rounds of 30-06 ammunition, 3 boxes of DWM with 150 grain taper lock bullet, 2 20-round boxes of Winchester super speed, and another 2 boxes of Super X 150 grain silver tip. Drop at heel: Approx 3″, drop at comb: 1-3/4″. Weight without scope: 7 lbs. 6 oz, LOP 14″. PROVENANCE: Booklet on Ferlach guns showing this model. CONDITION: Excellent, near new, with only a few marks on wood from handling and use. Bore is excellent, bright, shiny, and sharp. Scope is excellent.
