*J. PURDEY AND SONS SIDE LOCK EJECTOR PIGEON GUN WITH CASE. SN 19067. Cal. 12ga. 3″ Chambers (Look original). Double Triggers. Non automatic safety. 31″ Chopper lump steel bbls are engraved “J. Purdey & Sons, Audley House, South Audley Street, London” on left bbl, and “Made of Sir Joseph Whitworth’s Fluid-Pressed Steel” on the right. High concave sand blasted rib has small silver mid bead and front. Bbl flats have London nitro proofs for 1-1/4 oz shot. Bottoms of bbls are stamped “Choke” w/ SN “19067” (1907) and initials “GA” (probably G. Aston, head bbl maker). Case hardened action has dual under lugs, hidden third fastener, bushed strikers, side clips, and is engraved in typical Purdey house style rose and scroll. “J. Purdey & Sons London” is engraved on bottom of action. Locks have arrow cocking indicators on tumbler ends, and are engraved “J. Purdey & Sons.” Trigger guard has scroll and SN on grip. “Safe” is inlaid in gold on top tang. Broadly streaked straight grip European walnut buttstock measures 15-1/4″ over a brown leather covered pad, and features large vacant silver oval, and 20 LPI checkering w/ triple line borders. Splinter forend has Anson release, SN on iron, and initials “JT” (Joe Thompson, actioner). Bore diameter: left -.735, right -.735. Bore restrictions: left -.040, right -.013. Wall thickness: left -.022, right -.025. Drop at heel: 2-3/8″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 7 lbs 5oz. CASE: Modern canvas motor case w/ leather trim and green felt interior. CONDITION: Very good as refurbished. Bbls retain virtually all good quality re-black w/ engraving picked up. Action retains virtually all re-case hardening, engraving is washed. Trigger guard is brown. Top lever and safety button are case hardened and silvering. Buttstock retains most of its oil refinish, w/ edges rounded, w/ 2″ repair behind left lock plate running up to end of top tang. Checkering is re-cut and sharp. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are in time. Bores are bright and shiny w/ some very light pits and a minor dent toward muzzle in bottom of right bbl. CASE is fine. 4-35595 MGM108 (13,000-18,000)
