*WONDERFUL CASED BOSS DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 7482. Fabulous Boss shotgun with 28” steel bbls choked MOD/IMP-CYL proofed for 1-1/8 oz. loads and originally with 2-1/2” chambers. It has a narrow, tapered, smooth, concave rib with sgl bead, ejectors, dbl chopper lumps & dbl triggers. Chambers measure 2-3/4” and the rib is marked with maker’s name & address and “MADE IN ENGLAND”. Mounted with nicely figured, English walnut with checkered splinter forearm and straight stock with raised teardrop side panels, 14” over an old Jostam pad. There is a gold initial oval on bottom engraved “E.B.K.” Receiver, lockplates & all appended metal are engraved with extremely fine, English rose & scroll patterns with about 60% coverage. Top tang has “SAFE” in gold. Accompanied by its orig, burgundy felt lined, leather trunk case with maker’s label and instruction paper in the lid, compartmented in bottom for shotgun, two Boss snap caps, a Boss square nickeled oiler, a small leather tool pouch, another small leather pouch containing two spare firing pins, a covered compartment full of cleaning tools and a 2-pc ebony & brass cleaning rod. Bore diameter: left – .730, right – .730. Bore restrictions: left – .011, right – .007. Wall thickness: left – .027, right – .025. Drop at heel: 1-7/8”, drop at comb: 1-3/8”. Weight: 6 lbs. 10.24 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain about 85% orig blue, thin around muzzles and over forearm area with a couple of small spots of pitting near the muzzle on right side. Receiver & lockplates retain most of their orig case colors, strong & bright on lockplates and in sheltered areas on receiver, faded elsewhere. Wood is sound, probably cut to its present length from about 15” and retains most of its orig, hand rubbed, oil finish with a minor bruise or two and a few small nicks with the checkering showing moderate wear. Mechanics are crisp, very bright, shiny bores. Case has scuffed corners and dry straps with broken stitching on one end of the handle. Interior shows light wear and light soil.
