*SCARCE CASED PURDEY DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. SN 28945. Spectacular little dbl with 26” bbls choked MOD/IMP-CYL with swamped, smooth, tapered, concave rib, sgl bead, dbl chopper lumps, ejectors, assisted opening & dbl triggers. Mounted with exhibition quality, hand-selected French walnut with checkered splinter forearm and straight hand stock with raised teardrop side panels, 16” over a checkered butt. Bottom of stock is inlaid with block letter initials “WMB” (the initials of the orig owner). Receiver is beautifully engraved in typical Purdey patterns of beautiful, extremely fine, English rose & scroll patterns with maker’s name in Old English script in gold on each lockplate. Maker’s name & address is in block letters in gold on bottom and in Old English script on the bbls. Accompanied by a large packet of correspondence between Purdey’s & the orig owner detailing the entire order for this shotgun beginning in June 1985 until delivery in March of 1989. Also accompanied by its orig English, burgundy leather & oak, burgundy felt lined casing compartmented for the shotgun, a pair of Purdey snap caps, a rnd pewter oil bottle, a 2-pc wood, brass & aluminum cleaning rod, a stuck shell extractor, a small nickeled parts bottle containing two new spare firing pins & a covered compartment containing a bore brush & mop. It has maker’s label & specification card inside the lid. Bore diameter: left – .615, right – .614. Bore restrictions: left – .020, right – .012. Wall thickness: left – .035, right – .037. Drop at heel: 1-1/2”, drop at comb: 1-1/4”. Weight: 5 lbs. 10.88 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new, appears to be unfired (and according to the orig owner, he never fired it). Retains all of its brilliant, orig, factory finish to both metal & wood. Stock is sound with a few minor handling & storage marks.
