Standard one standing one folding leaf rear sight marked for 300 yards, is transversely dovetailed through sweated-on block and ring. Original German silver bead steel base front sight is dovetailed through standard front matted ramp. Right rear of bbl is stamped with SN. Bottom of bbl and action have Vienna proofs for 1920. Action with Schoenauer rotary magazine is marked “Patent Mannlicher Schoenauer M.1910” on matted receiver ring. Left side of action is stamped “Oesterr. Waffenfabr. – Ges. Steyr”. Action features single double pull trigger and Lyman no. 36 receiver sight with swinging aperture mounted on bolt stop. Bolt has typical “butter knife” handle, and matching SN is stamped on bottom. Plain light European walnut stock measures 14-3/4″ over original serrated steel trap buttplate. Stock is checkered at 18 LPI with scalloped borderless checkering at forend. Point pattern grip checkering has line border at rear, and three line border on points. Action takes down from stock by removing front pin with detent, magazine, and moving lever mounted in trigger guard, which allows barreled action to be lifted out. Stock also features sling loops, horn grip cap, and cheek piece for right handed shooter. Stock is stamped “33161” on toe line and “Made in Austria” in front of magazine. Included with rifle is an unmarked tan leather carrying scabbard with two compartments, one for barreled action, and one for the stock. Handle is fixed to top with copper rivets through brass washers. Also included is an old box of DWM 9.5 x 57 cartridges in stripper clips. PROVENANCE: Ammo and scabbard. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel and action retain 90 – 95% original blue, silvering on high edges and at muzzle. Magazine floorplate retains 40 – 50% original blue, the remainder silver to pewter gray. Stock retains most of its original varnish finish with a number of marks and scuffs from handling and use. Bore is excellent, bright and shiny, near mint. Scabbard is very fine with handle and straps intact, but with numerous rubs. Cartridge box has been opened, and label is somewhat soiled and lifted. This is a nice, clean little carbine in a great caliber, easy to load for with .375 diameter bullets readily available. 4-40460 MGM1 (3,000-5,000)
