*MATCHED PAIR H. FAURE LE PAGE BOXLOCK EJECTOR HEAVY GAME GUNS. SN 483 / 484. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. 30″ Dovetailed steel bbls are engraved “H. Faure Le Page a Paris” in unmatted riband on matted concave game ribs with crossbolt extension. Nos. “1” and “2” are inlaid in gold at rear of rib of each gun respectively. Bottoms of bbls and bbl flats have Belgian proofs. Makers nos. “7753” and “7754” are stamped on front portion of flats. Le Page nos. “483” and “484” are on splinter. Nos. “1” and “2” are engraved on rear lump of bbls. Case hardened boxlock actions feature Greener crossbolt third fasteners, side clips, double triggers, and automatic safeties (“S” inlaid in gold). Actions have 70% coverage of small scroll. Fences have well done relief acanthus treatment. SNs are stamped, and gun numbers are engraved on water tables. Gun numbers are also inlaid in gold on top levers. Blued top levers, floorplates, and trigger guards have scroll engraving. Trigger guard bows have family crest of dagger held aloft with motto nec flexitur in riband. Streaked and fiddle figured European walnut straight grip buttstocks measure 14-5/8″ over brown “Decelerator” pads, and feature drop points, and approx. 26 LPI checkering with line border. Checkering on gun no 1 is at about 18 LPI. Matching narrow splinter forends have Anson releases with SN stamped and gun numbers engraved on irons. Gun no. 1: Bore diameter: left -.730, right -.725. Bore restrictions: left -.036, right -.006. Wall thickness: left -.020, right -.027. Drop at heel: 2″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 7 lbs. 3 oz, LOP 14-5/8″. Gun no. 2: Bore diameter: left -.728, right -.730. Bore restrictions: left -.035, right -.022. Wall thickness: left -.026, right -.029. Drop at heel: 2-1/8″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 7 lbs. 2 oz, LOP 14-5/8″. CONDITION: Very fine, as partially refinished. Bbls retain virtually all of high quality re-black. Actions retain 50-60% original case color, silver on bottoms and fences. Top levers, floorplates, and trigger guards retain nearly all of a matte blue. Stocks retain most all of an oil finish. Wood is slightly under metal. Checkering shows wear, is a bit dirty, and has not been re-cut. Buttstock of gun no. 1 is a well done replacement. Actions are tight. Barrels are on face.
