EXCEPTIONAL COLT MODEL 1851 NAVY REVOLVER. Cal. 36. SN 190646. Standard Navy with 7-1/2″ oct bbl, New York address, blue & case colored with brass grip frame and 1-piece walnut grips. The “4” in the serial number is stamped over a “0” in all four places on the bottom of the revolver. The wedge and cylinder pin are not overstamped. CONDITION: Extremely fine plus, all matching except the rammer lever which is properly unnumbered. The bbl retains 88-90% glossy bright blue with the flaked areas (not worn) a light patina. The rammer and lever retain most of their original bright case colors, fading toward the end of the handle. The frame and hammer retain virtually all of their original case colors, lightly faded on the recoil shields, brilliant in the sheltered areas and on the left side. The grip frame retains 20-25% original silver plating. The cylinder retains 85-90% thin glossy original blue and has all six safety pins intact. It retains virtually all of its Ormsby naval battle scene. The grips are fine with light edge wear and a small spot on the left side, otherwise retain most all of their original bright factory varnish. Mechanics are crisp, brilliant shiny bore with a few scattered spots of light rust. An exceptional and desirable Navy Colt. 4-53418 JR799 (12,500-17,500)
