UNSIGNED (19th/20th Century) SHIP PORTRAIT OF THE “KATE TROOP”. Oil on canvas ship portrait of a three-mast black hull schooner in full sail sailing right to left. A town with lighthouse is seen off bow and two other boats are seen at stern. The British flag flies off stern, ship pennant off central mast with other flags flying. Blue and pink sky with green white cap ocean. A Frost & Adams, Boston stretcher label on reverse. Housed in a period gesso decorated gilt frame. PROVENANCE: Rankin Estate, Annapolis, Maryland. SIZE: 10” x 14”. CONDITION: One old patch to reverse with corresponding inpainting above front sail. Otherwise good. 9-29680 SM (500-1,000)
