LEFEVER PRESENTATION GRADE DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 22545. Fine early Lefever with 26″ bbls, choked IMP-CYL/CYL with raised concave tapered matted rib with dbl ivory beads, doll’s head rib extension, ejectors & dbl triggers. The bottom of the bbls has the serial number and another number “36198XX”. The receiver & lockplates are very nicely engraved with vignettes of a pointer retrieving a bird on the left side, a setter on point on the right side and a spaniel holding a quail on the trigger bow. The lockplates & receiver have fine border decorations with flourishes of foliate arabesque patterns. It is stocked with extremely nice figured Circassian walnut with checkered splinter forearm that has a spaniel’s head hard rubber insert. The stock has teardrop side panels with extra checkering on the capped pistol grip and has a Monte Carlo comb, 14″ over a checkered butt with hard rubber heel & toe plates. Accompanied by a New England Arms Co. Sales Tag describing this shotgun. Bore restrictions: left – .008, right – .018. Drop at the heel (rear of Monte Carlo) 2″, drop at the comb 1-1/2″. CONDITION: Very good. Bbls retain most of a fine professionally restored finish with some chemical spotting over the chamber areas. Receiver retains mostly dark case colors, fading to silver toward the rear with some bright colors in the sheltered areas behind the fences. Lockplates retain about 80% slightly faded case colors turning silver toward the front. Wood is sound with the forearm showing heavy wear and a fine patina. Buttstock retains about 95% of a fine professionally restored finish with numerous small nicks & scratches and moderate wear on the freshened checkering. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bores with fine orange peel pitting. 4-54397 JR141 (7,000-10,000)
