RARE COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY RIMFIRE REVOLVER. Cal. 22. SN 135481. Extremely rare single action. Only 107 revolvers were ever built in 22 caliber. Ninety of those were built on recycled 44 rim fire frames with the remaining 17 built as original 22 revolvers. This is one of those 17. It has a 7-1/2” bbl, blue & case colored with replacement 1-pc ivory grips. The bbl has 1-line block letter address with a hyphen at the back end and none at the front. It has 2-line patent markings with rampant Colt in a circle. The left side of the bbl is marked “22 R.F.” The periods in the bbl address and caliber marking are square. The cylinder has a beveled front edge and square back edge with a small “G” proof on the backside. The bottom of the bbl, at the frame is marked “22M”. The left side of the grips has four large silver stars and an early style spread winged American eagle with gold shield on its breast. The bbl has a slight, normal, rounded crown with the end through the frame square with a slight chamfered forcing cone. The hammer is a typical rim fire hammer with the firing pin approximately 3/32” wide secured with two pins. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter identifying this revolver as having been shipped to J.C. Rodger, address unavailable on Nov. 15, 1893. CONDITION: Extremely fine as restored. Retaining virtually all of its fine finish, blue and case colors. There are a couple of scratches on the bbl near the cylinder pin, otherwise it is near perfect. Case colors are dark & brilliant and appear nearly authentic, under a coating of shellac. Grips were apparently made for another revolver, as they are a poor fit. Mechanics are fine. Bore is bright & shiny. This apparently was a very fine revolver that had seen little use before it was restored. 4-51220 JR1005 (25,000-40,000)
