ARTHUR PARTON (American, 1842-1914) ON THE HUDSON. Outstanding large oil on canvas New York landscape scene shows a foreground river with a small herd of cows beside and taking shade under nearby trees. The river winds through the valley scattered with tree lined fields and houses leading to far away mountains. On the left is a steep sided mountain, closer than the rest. All under an expansive sky from blue to light yellow/blue. Housed in a fine reproduction antique style gilt wood frame. SIZE: 24″ x 40″. CONDITION: Very good. Relined, minor chips to top edge, some minor inpainting to edges and spots in sky. 9-99989 (12,000-18,000)
