WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal 40-82. SN 142145. Standard grade rifle with 26” oct bbl, full magazine, half nickel front sight and a Remington type semi-buckhorn rear sight. Uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. Accompanied by a Winchester Gun Museum letter identifying this rifle as having been shipped March 27, 1909. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl retains 75-80% blue/brown turning plum with bright blue in the sheltered areas with scattered spots of pitting. Magazine tube retains about 95% strong bright original blue. Receiver retains 20-25% thin blue with the balance a silver patina and scattered light pitting. Wood is sound and retains 60-70% varnish.
