WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal 45-70. SN 28402. Standard grade rifle with 23” oct bbl, full magazine and straight stock with crescent steel buttplate. Bbl has a replacement front sight and a full buckhorn King rear sight. Accompanied by a Winchester Museum letter indicating the rifle was shipped as a 40-82 with 28” bbl on December 18. 1888. Also accompanies are a letter from the owner, at that time, and an invoice from the Koozer Gun Shop, along with an original target fired after work was done. CONDITION: Bbl has been rebored and rechambered by the Koozer Gun Shop and reduced to its present length and the entire rifle retains most of a very fine professionally restored finish. Metal has some very fine, very light scattered spots of pinpoint rust. Stock is nicked and dinged with some gouges at the comb. Brilliant shiny bore, would make a good shooter. 4-50476 JR394 (750-1,250)
