*SIMSON & CO. DRILLING MADE FOR IVER JOHNSON SPORTING GOODS CO. SN 3349. Cal. 12ga/ 12ga/ 7.62×52 (30-30). Double triggers (front set). 28-3/8″ Bbls are engraved “Simson & Co. Suhl” w/ “Krupp Steel Germany” in circular trade marks on each bbl. Flat matted top rib w/ flip-up rear sight and longitudinally dove-tailed silver bead front and cross bolt rib extension is engraved “Made for Iver Johnson Sporting Goods Co.” Bbls show German nitro proofs, Simson triangle logo, and SN “3349” on bottoms. Case hardened box lock action w/ scalloped back, has double under bolts, Greener cross bolt, bushed strikers,and rifle cocking indicator (Shot gun cocking indicators are raised ridges on tumbler ends.). There is a shotgun / rifle selector switch on top tang and a Greener side safety w/ “S” inlaid in silver. Action shows nicely executed scroll engraving w/ decorative borders w/ SN and no. 25708 on water table. Steel trigger guard has some scroll engraving and borders. The slightly figured European walnut pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4″ over a Hawkins pad. It has a sling loop, vacant silver oval on toe line, engraved steel grip cap, 26 LPI checkering w/ flat mullered borders, and checkered line bordered side panels. Splinter forend w/ Schnabel tip has Deeley fastener and checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.727, right -.727. Bore restrictions: left -.038, right -.038. Wall thickness: left -.027, right -.019. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 7 lbs 7.7oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain 90-95% orig blue, thinning toward breech w/ few light scratches. Bores are excellent, bright and shiny w/ one small pit at rear of left bbl, 3 very small dents behind the choke of right bbl, and another very small dent behind choke of left bbl. Rifle bbl is strong, shiny, slight evidence of throat erosion, and a few scattered pits toward muzzle. Action retains 70-80% orig case color, silvering on beads, fences, and bottom of action. Trigger guard, top lever and selector button retain most of their blue, silvering a bit on high points and edges. Stocks retain most of a light varnish finish, w/ nicks and dings from use.
