*HERCULES ACTION DRILLING BY M. WAGNER. SN 22694. Cal. 16ga./16ga./8x57JR. 26-5/8″ Bbls are engraved “M. Wagner, Trier” on nicely matted flat rib w/ pop-up rear sight, and longitudinally dove tailed front bead. Breech ends of bbls have integral bosses w/ pins for breech to engage. Bottoms of bbls have German nitro proofs. Shotgun bbls are marked “Fluss Stahl” “Krupp Essen”. Rifle bbl is marked “Krupp Stahl”, no. “22694” and has a sling loop soldered bottom. Trigger plate top lever action has dual under lugs, w/ 2 locking lugs that extend from the sides of the action when top lever is pushed, and they are marked “Herkules Verschluss”. Fences have intricate filing to accommodate this action. Top of the action has 3 pin cocking indicators, and a rifle selector button w/ “S” (shot) and “K” (ball) indicators. Action is engraved in simple scroll on bottom w/ stylized oak leaves w/ a stag on the left and a roebuck on right. Plain European walnut pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4″ over a basket weave horn butt plate w/ shadow line cheek piece, sun burst horn grip cap, sling loop, and engraved steel spring loaded cartridge trap on toe line w/ spaces for 4 cartridges. Checkering is 20 LPI w/ double line border. Splinter forend has Deeley latch and wood and checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.674, right -.675. Bore restrictions: left -.037, right -.032. Wall thickness: left -.015, right -.022. Drop at heel: 2-5/8″, drop at comb: 1-1/4″. Weight: 7 lbs 8.6oz. CONDITION: Good. Bbls retain 98% of re-black. Shotgun bores are shiny w/ some fairly large pits in front of right chamber, and scattered pitting throughout. Rifle bore is strong, dark in the grooves. Action is finished bright. Buttstock is well done replacement. Forend shows lots of wear w/ wood under metal at iron. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Checkering is re-cut and sharp. Horn butt plate shows considerable wear.
