COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER. Cal. 31. SN 310916. Blue & case colored with 4″ oct bbl, cone front sight and “New-York US America” without dashes bbl address. It has 6-shot cylinder with stagecoach holdup scene and brass grip frame with 1-piece walnut grips. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching except the rammer lever which is properly unnumbered. The bbl retains 96-97% glossy bright blue with some scattered light surface etching and light hammer marks by the wedge slot. The muzzle retains about 70% bright original polish. The rammer and lever retain most of their original case colors, brilliant in the sheltered areas. The frame retains most of its original case colors, a little dark on the recoil shields, bright on the sides and hammer. The trigger guard and back strap retain traces of original silver, retaining a dark mustard patina. The grips have chipped toes with some lost finish around the frame from oxidation. The cylinder retains about 90% strong original blue and about 98% stagecoach holdup scene. There are some light nicks on the front edge and a light drag line. Crisp mechanics, bright shiny bore with a few spots of light pitting. Please note that the next lot is just 16 serial numbers higher than this one. 4-53565 JR885 (3,000-6,000)
