*WINCHESTER MODEL 21 CUSTOM DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 ga. SN 28306. Fine custom ’21’ with 30″ bbls choked FULL/MOD with tapered concave matted rib, sgl bead, ejectors & sgl selective trigger. Receiver is custom, after market, engraved with raised gold pheasant on left side, raised gold setter & partridge on right side & a raised gold duck on floorplate. Animals are all extremely well executed in very fine detail & are surrounded by about 50% coverage well executed foliate arabesque patterns. Engraving extends about 6″ over chamber areas & 3″ from muzzles. Mounted with very nicely figured American walnut with ’21B’ style carved replacement beavertail forearm & pistol grip stock, 14″ over a checkered butt. Also accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this shotgun with field finish & 3″ chambers choked FULL/FULL, completing inspection on Dec. 29, 1953 & further reports that July 14, 1954 right bbl changed to modified & fit beavertail forearm. Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-1/4″. Bore restrictions: left – .020, right – .010. Wall thickness: left – .029, right – .034. Bore diameter: left – .591, right – .600. Weight: 6 lbs. 13.44 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Overall retains most of its fine custom finish to both metal & wood, appears unused since finishing. Bbls have three or four spots of pitting on right side with moderate to heavy pitting in rib in adjacent areas, otherwise bbl blue is a little thin. Receiver, trigger guard & forend iron blue is strong & bright. Wood has no discernible flaws. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores. 4-55538 JR199 (4,500-7,500)
