CLOCKWORK NODDING SANTA WITH CHILDREN. Phenomenal example that embodies the Christmas spirit and appeals to all who set eyes upon it. Originally on display in the Mary Merritt Doll Museum since the early 1960s, it is a unique and rare opportunity to purchase this treasure for one’s collection. Included with this lot is a postcard from Merritt’s depicting this item along with other Santas that were on display at the museum. Santa, or perhaps we should say Kris Kringle, is standing with his basket full of toy treasures and at his feet, looking up in amazement, are two little tots beseeching Santa to remember them on Christmas Eve. Clockwork mechanism within Santa’s body is operational, and the children as well as Santa are mounted upon a snow-covered (mica) base with holiday paper trimming on sides. SIZE: 32″ overall h.
