*CHARLES DALY SIDE LOCK DRILLING MADE BY J. P. SAUER. SN 141846. Cal. 20 x 20 x 30-30. 2-1/2″ Chambers. 26″ Barrels are engraved “J. P. Sauer & Sons” on tops w/ “Fluid – Steel – Krupp – Essen” stamped on wide flat matted rib, w/ folding rear sight and longitudinally dovetailed silver bead front. Bbl flats are stamped w/ German black powder proofs, “Prussia”, and Sauer warrior logo. Bottom of rifle bbl is stamped SN “141846” and “260P”. Case hardened action has dual under lugs, Greener cross bolt third fastener, bushed strikers, and is engraved “Made in Prussia” on water table. Rounded action has small areas of scroll w/ line border engraving and has “D. R. P. 78411” on trigger plate. Back action side locks have a few scrolls and “Charles Daly” engraved. Rifle bbl is fired by rear trigger w/ side cocking thumb lever pivoting in front of trigger guard. Case hardened trigger guard has scroll on bow, and SN on grip. Top tang has a peep sight which folds back through split safety button. “Safe” is engraved behind top lever. Lightly figured European walnut semi pistol grip buttstock measures 14″ over a ribbed horn butt plate, has vacant gold oval, and 28 LPI checkering w/ double line borders. Splinter forend has Deeley release, and checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.626, right -.627. Bore restrictions: left -.021, right -.011. Wall thickness: left – .025, right -.019. Drop at heel: 2-3/4″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 6 lbs 10oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 80-90% orig blue. Action retains 30% case color, silver on bottom. Lock plates retain 30-40% muted color. Top lever and rifle cocking lever have most of blue silvering at tips. Stocks retain most of orig finish w/ oil rubbed in over the years, w/ numerous nicks and dings. Forend checkering is heavily compressed on left side. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Bores are very fine w/ some frosting toward breech in shotgun bbls. 4-35804 MGM132 (4,500-6,500)
