NEW ENGLAND CHIPPENDALE TIGER MAPLE TALL CHEST. Third quarter 18th century. A highboy top now fitted with a bracket base. The rectangular dovetailed case applied with a molded cornice fitted with five graduated thumbmolded long drawers on a molded base with bracket feet. SIZE: 44-1/2″ h. 36″ case w. x 17-1/2 case d. PROVENANCE: From an eastern Connecticut home. CONDITION: The cornice, case, drawers, and majority of backboards are original. The fine tiger-grained wood retains old surfaces. Regional construction with white pine drawer bottoms comprised of multiple boards running front to back. The molding and bracket base a later addition. 9-92695 (2,000-3,000)
