*PEDRETTI ENGRAVED PERUGINI & VISINI SIDELOCK EJECTOR DOUBLE RIFLE WITH EXTRA SHOTGUN BARRELS AND CASE. SN 773. Cal..375 H&H and 20 Ga. 2-3/4″ Chambers. Mono-block 25″ rifle barrels have flat matted quarter rib, fitted with one standing, three folding leaf express sight marked for 50, 75, 100, and 125 yards. Silver bead front sight is longitudinally dovetailed into matching front ramp. Top of left bbl is engraved “Cal 375. H&H Mag.” Top of mono-block is engraved “Perugini – Visini e C -” and “Nuvolera. B. I. – Italy”. Bbl flats and bottoms of bbls are stamped with 1982 Italian nitro proofs, bottom of right bbl with “Cat. 1787”, and bbl flats with “375 H&H Mag”, (PV logo), SN, and very small importers mark “N. A. Co. Ridgefield, N. J.” 28″ Chopper lump shotgun barrels with raised flat matted game rib are engraved with makers name and address on tops, and same information on bbl flats, with bore and chamber information on bottoms of bbls. Each set of bbls has its own forend. Coin finished sidelock action has proofs, SN and logo on water table, and features non-automatic safety (“Safe” inlaid in gold), raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators, bushed strikers, and double triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with extremely well cut, delicately shaded, semi-relief scrolled acanthus framing a realistic Bulino vignette of charging bull elephant, ears out, trunk down, with large tree in background on bottom. “Perugini & Visini” is engraved on either side of action under lockplates. Fences are more deeply carved with more acanthus scroll. Lockplates have beautifully detailed renditions of big cats; leopard taking down an impala with wonderfully detailed and shaded sky, veldt and small bush. Right lockplate depicts prowling Bengal tiger in grasslands with dramatic sky as backdrop. Single beaded trigger guard has matching scrolled acanthus with “A” inlaid in gold in oval motif. All this masterful work was done by G. Pedretti, whose signature appears on left side of trigger plate, and on left lockplate, under central bush. Nicely marbled, and lightly stump figured European walnut pistol grip buttstock measures 14-7/8″ over dark brown leather covered pad, and features shadow line cheekpiece for right hand shooter, diamond hand, and 24 LPI checkering with line border. Matching splinter ejector forends have Anson releases. Rifle bbl: Drop at heel: Approx. 2-1/4″, drop at comb: Approx. 1-1/2″. Weight: 8 lbs. 15 oz, LOP 14-7/8″. Shotgun Bbl: Bore diameter: left -.621, right -.620. Bore restrictions: left -.031, right -.016. Wall thickness: left -.040, right -.037. Drop at heel: 2″, drop at comb: 1-5/16″. Weight: 7 lbs. 3 oz, LOP 14-7/8″. Fine quality brown leather case has large stitched leather corners. Interior is lined with maroon velvet, with brown leather gold-embossed P & V label. There is space for both sets of bbls. Accessories include 2-pc steel rifle cleaning rod, 3-pc walnut and brass shotgun cleaning rod, pair of horn handled turnscrews, square oil bottle, two striker bottles, snap caps, cleaning funnel, and two leather wallets containing brushes, etc. as well as two keys. CONDITION: Excellent. Rifle bbls show nearly all their original finish, but silvered at muzzles and front portion of front ramp, and have a few minor marks. Shotgun bbls show very little handling and use. Action retains all of its coin finish with no noticeable areas of darkening. Stocks show a few nicks, marks, and scratches. Action is tight, for the rifle bbls, but very slightly off face, rear lump bears on circle. Shotgun bbls are tight and on face. Ejectors are very slightly out of time with shotgun bbls, in time with rifle bbls. Bores are excellent. Case is excellent with a few minor marks and rubs. Straps and handle are fine. Interior cloth shows compressions and slight soiling from contact with bbls. Accessories are excellent. A perfect combination for your next safari. 4-40901 MGM126 (30,000-50,000)
