*PARKER PH GRADE DAMASCUS DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 145728. Built on a scarce 1-1/2 frame with 28” twist steel bbls choked IMP-CYL/FULL with tapered, concave, matted rib, dbl ivory beads, doll’s head rib extension, extractor & dbl triggers. Mounted with nicely figured, straight grain, checkered, American walnut with splinter forearm & pistol grip stock, 13-1/2” over a Parker dog’s head hard rubber buttplate. Receiver has light border decorations and maker’s name on each side with light foliate arabesque patterns on bottom & fences. This exact shotgun is pictured on p. 69 of Spring 2005 Double Gun Journal at the end of an article, an interview of Peter Johnson by Ed Muderlak. Mr. Johnson is the author of the 1961 published seminal work on Parker shotguns Parker: America’s Finest Shotgun. A color copy of this page accompanies the shotgun. Bore diameter: left – .733, right – .731. Bore restrictions: left – .006, right – .037. Wall thickness: left – .044, right – .037. Drop at heel: 3”, drop at comb: 2-1/8”. Weight: 7 lbs. 8 oz. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain about 90% orig twist pattern with strong orig brown under forearm and in sheltered areas with balance showing light wear and holding a silver/brown patina. Receiver retains 15-20% orig case colors in sheltered areas, bright on top tang with balance faded to silver. Buttplate has a crack from bottom screw to toe with a slightly chipped toe, otherwise wood is sound with minor nicks & scratches and retains most of an old restored finish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bores with fine frosty pitting about the back half of bores. 4-30791 (1,500-2,500)
