*CHARLES DALY SIDE LOCK DRILLING MADE BY J. P. SAUER AND SON. SN 106264. Cal. 16 x 16 x 30-30. 28″ Steel bbls are engraved “J. P. Sauer & Son Suhl” on tops of both bbls. Broad flat matted rib is stamped “Fluid – Steel – Krupp – Essen-” w/ folding rear and longitudinally dovetailed bead front sights. Bbl flats have German proofs, right is marked “Prussia”. Bottom of left bbl is stamped “Nicht Fur Kugel”. Bottom of rifle bbl has SN “106264” and no “2241”. Minimally scrollengraved case hardened action has dual under lugs, Greener cross bolt, bushed shotgun strikers, and pin rifle cocking indicator. Rifle is cocked w/ thumb actuated side lever, along side of trigger guard. Back action locks have some scroll, are engraved “Charles Daly” and have raised rib cocking indicators on tumbler ends. Bottom of rounded action has “D. R. P. no. 78411” engraved on trigger plate. Trigger guard has some scroll and SN on grip. Top tang has “Safe” engraved in front of bifurcated sliding safety button w/ flip-up peep sight at rear. Figured and streaked European walnut semi pistol grip buttstock measures 13-3/4″ over ribbed horn butt plate, features vacant silver oval and 20 LPI checkering w/ beveled border. Splinter forend has Deeley fastener and checkering to match buttstock. Bore diameter: left -.668, right -.663. Bore restrictions: left -.021, right -000. Wall thickness: left -.027, right -.027. Drop at heel: 2-1/2″, drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 7 lbs 8oz. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbls retain nearly all orig black. Action retains 60-70% orig case color, silvering behind forend, and edges of fences. Lock plates retain 80-90% of orig muted color. Top lever and rifle cocking lever are silvered at tips, from use. Stocks retain most of orig finish, w/ marks from use. Shotgun bores are bright and shiny w/ few scattered pits toward breeches. Rifle bore is strong, mostly shiny, w/ some throat erosion, and frosting toward breech. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. 4-35663 MGM131 (4,500-6,500)
