RARE TIFFANY STUDIOS TABLE LANTERN. Lantern is made of bronze and favrile glass with the bronze work having intricate detailing from top to bottom including the turn switch. Base carries an original red polychrome to areas of low relief. Gold favrile glass shade carries a handsome iridescent finish. The identical lantern may be found in original photographs from Tiffany Studios as pictured in the book Tiffany Lamps and Metalware by Alastair Duncan, page 102, plate 104 where is shown to be numbered 517. The lantern is also pictured in the book Louis C. Tiffany The Garden Museum Collection by Alastair Duncan in a black & white photo on page 316. The caption under the photo reads “Comparable model entitled Venetian. Illustrated in Charles de Kay: The Artwork of Louis C. Tiffany, New York, 1914, between pages 40 and 41.”.
